DID YOU KNOW? Crocodiles as well as alligators have vertical pupils that open wide in dim light allowing them excellent vision at night. Crocodiles also have good vision underwater. They have a transparent third eye membrane which keeps water out of the eyes.

Crocodiles of the world is a small private collection of Crocodiles. Although small, we have one of the largest if not THE largest collection of different Crocodile species in the UK. Rooted in the Triassic period some 230 million years ago, crocodile like reptiles evolved with the dinosaurs yet survived mass extinction with remarkable adaptability. Stealthy, smart, energy efficient and powerful, today's crocodiles are waters edge predators dwelling in rivers, swamps, lakes and even some coastal zones across the tropics and sub tropics. Loathed for their eating habits and adored for their skins, these animals were hunted almost to extinction. But thanks to some creative conservation methods, the status of crocodilians has improved. Some populations are thriving, others are still at risk. Yet Crocodiles still face a serious challenge – human encroachment on fragile habitat.

Shaun Foggett plans to build the UK's first crocodile park. This, as the private collection is now, will be dedicated to the conservation of crocodiles, alligators, caiman and gharials. But we need your help - for more information about sponsoring or supporting our program contact us.
Our mission is to raise the world's awareness of crocodilians and to educate people about their vulnerability to hunting, habitat loss, and other human activities. We also work with international conservation projects with the aim of repopulating the wild numbers of endangered species.
