World Croc Day 2026
June 17 2026 is World Croc Day! A day to celebrate all the crocodilians of the world!
Did you know that the evolutionary ancestors of crocodiles appeared about 250 million years ago? That’s roughly 20 to 25 million years before the first dinosaurs evolved! They’re masters of adapting to changing environments across the globe. As apex predators, they play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, helping to keep waterways balanced and supporting biodiversity.
Despite this, many crocodilian species face threats from habitat loss, pollution, and human-wildlife conflict. Conservation organisations, researchers, and wildlife centres around the world are working tirelessly to protect these incredible animals and the habitats they depend on.
Here at Crocodiles of the World, we are proud to play a part in those global efforts. Through education, conservation awareness, and inspiring visitors to learn more about these fascinating reptiles, we help shine a spotlight on the challenges facing crocodilians and the importance of protecting them for future generations.
