Keeper for a Day Experiences

Truly a one of a kind experience. Spend half a day behind the scenes at the zoo with the Crocodiles of the World's zoo keeping team as they feed the animals, clean their living spaces, and work to keep them healthy.

Available for adults and children aged 6 and above.

What's included:

The crocodile Keeper for a Day experience is run by an experienced member of our zoo keeping team and includes the following:

  • Safety briefing
  • Introduction and a talk on crocodiles
  • Enclosure maintenance
  • Food preparation
  • Feeding of crocodiles
  • Opportunity to handle hatchling or juvenile crocodiles

Activities could include:

Zoo keepers' tasks carried out vary depending upon season and animal health and welfare. Some of the activities may include:

  • Recording the length and weight of crocodile hatchlings
  • Cleaning the black caiman enclosure
  • Food preparation for the Nile crocodiles
  • Cleaning out and feeding crocodile hatchlings
  • Preparing food and feeding the iguanas and other lizards

The cost:

  • £75 per child
  • £125 per adult
  • Children aged between between 6 and 14 years old including free admission for one accompanying adult.

Prices and payment

Prices for Keeper for a Day experiences:

Adult keeper experience £125 per person
Junior keeper experience £75 per junior
Accompanying adult for juniors Free
Additional adults (maximum of 4) £13.00
  • Children (6-14 years inclusive) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Admission fees for additional members of your party are collected on the day.

Availability and useful information:

  • Bookings are available all year round, subject to availability.
  • Numbers are strictly limited to no more than 5 per session to ensure that attendees have the maximum opportunity of working with the animals.
  • There will be a comprehensive safety briefing upon arrival - participants will be fully briefed on what they should and should not do in any situation and they will be fully supervised at all times. Crocodiles of the World will take all necessary precautions and as long as participants do as they are instructed by the qualified keeper, then there should not be any particular danger in the activities.
  • Children under the age of 16 must always be accompanied by a responsible adult - admission is included in price of experience.
  • Hard-wearing clothes must be worn at all times.
  • Please remember the zoo is a tropical climate, which is hot and humid - drinks are available in the gift shop.
  • Free parking is available at the zoo. Please note that this car park is only available during event open periods.

Cancellation rules

  • If we receive notice of your cancellation more than 14 days in advance you will lose 50% of the cost of your experience.
  • If we receive notice of your cancellation 13 days or fewer you will lose 100% of the cost of your experience.
  • In circumstances where we are able to re-book the cancelled experience a 100% refund will be given.
  • In order to cover our costs, we will also charge an administrative fee of £10 for each cancelled or rebooked place.

Our keeper experiences are extremely popular especially during school and summer holidays. Please ensure you book well in advance to ensure a place on the experience of your choice.
