Adult learning
Our adult learning programmes offer a wealth of educational opportunities designed to help "big kids" explore all that the zoo has to offer.
Adult learning programs
You don't need kids to have a great time at the zoo. In fact at Crocodiles of the World, you will discover a whole new zoo experience.
The timetable is flexible and the sessions are relaxed and largely informal. If you have a particular area of interest, tell us - it helps us to match you up with a "hands-on" learning session that expands your understanding and knowledge of crocodiles.
- Advance booking is subject to availability, so please book early. Call 01993 706990 or e-mail education@crocodilesoftheworld.co.uk
Trainee teachers
Suitable for NQTs and trainee teachers of all education levels, we can now offer an exceptional opportunity for new teachers to take part in a session designed to equip them with experience of planning and preparing for an educational visit or school trip.
A typical session will last between one and two hours.
- Planning a trip to the zoo.
- Risk assessment and management.
- Creating hands-on learning opportunities at the zoo.
- Follow-up educational resources and teacher-led classroom learning.
- Advance booking is always necessary - call 01993 706990 or e-mail education@crocodilesoftheworld.co.uk

A session might include:

- Group discussion on crocodilian anatomy, physiology, and behaviour.
- Assessment of the facilities required for the care of crocodilians. Discussion on the potential problems depending on the size and age of the specimen.
- Opportunity to learn the correct methods of handling crocodiles from hatchlings to mature adults.
Typical attendees are those wishing to gain knowledge and experience and enter the zoo and veterinary industry, those already in the industries but need to hone their skills and enthusiasts who want to broaden their knowledge of crocodilians.

Phobia sessions
The fear of crocodiles is a common phobia. Through discussion, observation and first-hand experience, our phobia sessions are intended to dispel your fear and hesitation.
A typical phobia session might include the following:
- Introduction and a talk on crocodiles.
- Group discussion on how the phobia affects you.
- Observation of crocodiles from public viewing areas of the animal's enclosure.
- Optional meeting with hatchling or juvenile friendly crocodiles. The crocodile has the most powerful bite on the planet, but thanks to the arrangement of their musculature, the jaws can be securely closed with just some duct tape.
- Advance booking is always necessary - call 01993 706990 or e-mail education@crocodilesoftheworld.co.uk
