Education at the zoo

Here at Crocodiles of the World, we have developed a broad and wide-ranging learning program designed to encourage and enable our students of all ages to engage in the learning process about reptiles and crocodiles - some of the few animals guaranteed to amaze children of all ages.

With plenty of close observation and activity in a natural environment, the zoo offers the perfect venue for a fantastic and informative day out with your class.

Our learning program

Learning sessions provide a unique opportunity for students to experience a truly unique and memorable out-of-school learning experience!

Topics include:

  • Amazing animal adaptions
  • Habitats and food chains
  • Conservation, extinction and things you can do to protect wildlife
  • Predation and hunting
  • Evolution and intelligent animal behaviour
  • All activities are linked to the English National Curriculum

Student groups can take advantage of our educational resources and wonder at a living classroom filled with opportunities for exploration, discovery, learning and fun!

Classroom area

A captivating, purpose-built classroom for 45 children, which extends into an underwater viewing area for our large Nile crocodile enclosure, makes the zoo a perfect setting for a school visit, field trip or independent project research.

Our education team is made up of experienced and knowledgeable reptile experts, who can answer even the toughest questions from fascinated young students!

Animal management

For enthusiasts and interested beginners with a serious interest in crocodiles and DWA species we offer advice and guidance on enclosure design and habitat enrichment as well as sessions focused on captive management topics; licensing and behaviour.
