Zoo opening

Due to the many planning, consenting, licensing and funding challenges, it was 12 months before the UK's first crocodile zoo was ready to open.

Grand opening

The zoo was opened to the public for the first time in August 2011 - it housed 40 animals of 11 species at the time. Over the coming months people from across the country flocked to zoo open days, guided tours and crocodile keeper experiences.

In the first three months more than 4,000 people visited the zoo and 100,000 people visited our website. The feedback from our visitors was extremely positive but we took most pleasure from knowing every visitor left with a better understanding of our mission.

Support for our work

Shaun has been lucky to share his journey with a lot of people who are concerned about what's happening to our crocodiles and are contribute time, energy, and skills to our cause. Today people can get involved, support our conservation work and share in our dream.

A dream made reality

Shaun has finally gotten the chance to make his childhood dream a reality, while sharing his love for crocodiles with the community.

But a dream goes on forever.

The next steps

With the first step of opening the zoo completed, plans to expand are already underway with the collection growing to more than 60 animals and a successful breeding program underway. We plan to make this the best zoo around, something for the community to share and enjoy for years to come.
